Moment activist is fatally stabbed in random attack

CCTV has been released of the horrifying moment an activist and poet was stabbed to death in front of his girlfriend on a New York City street, in a seemingly random attack. 32-year-old Ryan Carson, an environmental campaigner, and his girlfriend were making their way home from a wedding in the early hours of Monday morning, when they encountered a man randomly kicking scooters parked on the curb, before turning to Carson and yelling, ‘What the f**k are you looking at?’

Carson appears to try to reason with the man, eventually attempting to push him away. The attacker pulls out a knife and stabs Carson, at which point he slumps to the ground. The man approaches the girlfriend and spits in her face before fleeing.
No arrests have yet been made, but the suspect’s image has been circulated by the NYPD.
