Anti-French sentiment escalates in Niger despite expulsion of ambassador

Tensions have been on the rise between Niger and France since mid-summer following a coup in the country, with citizens of the African country expressing their discontent with the presence of the former colonial power.

The French ambassador left Niger, and has criticized the treatment he received under Niger’s new government.
