On September 25, 2023 at approximately 1700 hrs, Miguel Angel Montalvo was sentenced by Franklin County Superior Court to 596 months in prison (49.5 years. Montalvo is a repeat felony offender and is a Gang member of the Mexican Pride Surenos (MPS). This sentence was based off a plea deal orchestrated by the Franklin County Prosecutors Office. This plea deal came from a list of charges that are far too numerous to mention, but include: Attempted Murder, Assault 1st, and Assault 2nd. These charges were compounded by firearm enhancements and involved multiple victims.
Montalvo was most notably involved in the incident that occurred on May 17, 2020, involving the attempted murder of two Pasco Police Officers. While exiting the rear of a victim's residence, Miguel Montalvo along with Juan Montalvo opened fire on Pasco Police Officers that had formed a perimeter in the alley behind the residence.
The officers on scene had Probable Cause for both suspects for Kidnapping and Attempted murder.
Officer Joshua Glass and Officer Eric Fox carried out their duties that fateful day, bravely returning fire under a hail of bullets from both suspects, ultimately stopping the threat to themselves and the community. Both suspects were struck by the officers' return fire, injuring Miguel Montalvo and tragically resulting in the death of Juan Montalvo.
For any police officer, this day ranks among the most harrowing experiences in their career. Yesterday's sentencing provided a semblance of closure to this traumatic incident.
