In this video, I want to discuss the difference between coconut oil and olive oil, and which one is better to use. They are both very good types of oil to use, but they have slightly different purposes.

Olive oil is heavy in omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-6 fatty acids will typically cause inflammation. But, olive oil is one of the only oils, being an omega-6, that will not cause inflammation. It's actually an anti-inflammatory.

Coconut oil is 92% saturated fat. But, saturated fat is not a bad thing. It's my opinion that coconut oil will not increase bad cholesterol or clot the arteries.

Olive oil:
• Is 78% monounsaturated
• Is great to put on salads
• It's packed with phytonutrients
• It has vitamin E
• It has healthy essential fatty acids
• It has oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, and more

*The biggest benefit of olive oil is that it may help support a healthy heart.

Coconut oil:
• Is 92% saturated
• Is good for cooking
• It has lauric acid (which is good for the immune system)
• It has phytonutrients
• You can put coconut oil in your coffee
• It could help increase HDL and lower LDL
• It can give you energy

Both coconut oil and olive oil have their benefits. I wouldn't even say one is better than the other—I would consume both. But, they do slightly different things.
