I finally got my hands on one of the most unique credit cards to be launched in a long time (and currently the best credit card to pay rent)!

It’s called the Bilt World Elite Mastercard (or Bilt Mastercard for short … or more casually just the Bilt Credit Card).

What makes it so unique is that you can pay rent with a credit card AND earn rewards (1 point per dollar) WITHOUT fees (i.e. the typical 2% - 3% transaction fee you’d normally have to pay when using a credit card). That’s a game changer because normally paying additional fees cancels out the value of the rewards you’d earn on regular travel credit cards or cash back credit cards. That’s why up until now I’ve always paid my rent via cash / ACH from a checking account OR on a new credit card with a signup bonus that was large enough to justify any fees and still leave me with hundreds in profit.

Beyond rent, you can still use the Bilt Mastercard to earn points in other spend categories. It earns 3X points on dining, 2X points on travel, and 1X points on all other purchases (as long as you make at least 5 total transactions per billing cycle on purchases). Those rates are doubled on the 1st of each month (i.e. Bilt Rent Day) so you can earn 6X, 4X, and 2X (except for rent, which still earns 1X).

I plan to cover all the details on how to redeem Bilt points as well as the Bilt Credit Card benefits in a future Bilt Credit Card review video.

Meanwhile, here are the main reasons why I applied for the Bilt Mastercard:

1. I could finally understand the rewards program. It used to be overly complicated when it first launched. Fortunately, the rewards program has been simplified since then. Here's a link to a post by NerdWallet about the old rewards structure in case you'd like to see what it was like: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/credit-cards/bilt-mastercard-earn-rewards-on-rent-payments

2. Earn rewards by paying rent without fees. This means that the value of the rewards I earn is now actual profit that I can redeem to save money on travel.

3. Competitive travel credit card with no annual fee. The Bilt transfer partners are very strong and the card has some excellent travel protections, too. Here’s the current list of Bilt transfer partners, which may change over time:
- American Airlines AAdvantage
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- United MileagePlus
- Emirates Skywards
- Air France KLM Flying Blue
- Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Virgin Red
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- British Airways Avios
- Iberia Airlines Avios
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- IHG Hotels & Resorts
- World of Hyatt

4. Get first-hand experience using it. There are a lot of unique features of the Bilt Mastercard that I wanted to better understand by actually using the card product.

5. YouTube content / educate others. Many others have questions about this card, so once I learn how to use it myself, I’m eager to share what I learn with others so they too can earn rewards by paying rent with a credit card!

What did you think of the Bilt Credit Card Unboxing? I've gotta say, it's probably the coolest I've seen in years! (perhaps ever?)
