On September 1, 2023, Superintendent Charles Foust and Assistant Superintendent Dawn Brinson of New Hanover County Schools faced the school board on the use of Ibram X. Kendi's "Stamped" in a high school language course. Remarkably, these seasoned educators appeared ill-prepared for the hearing and uninformed about key aspects of the school system they are supposed to be managing. Many of their answers were 'word salad' peppered with 'I don't know'.
