Oct 11, 2021, 24 year old Jermaine Jones died after being tased by Richmond County deputy Richard Russell during a traffic stop.
The stop was initiated by Officer Christopher Brown, Brown was in an unmarked patrol car.

According to the Richmond County Coroner's Office, Jones was pronounced dead at Augusta University Medical Center on Monday after experiencing a medical emergency while being transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation looked into the incident. Jones had been a passenger in a black SUV that was pulled over by deputies at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Clifton Street on Monday evening. During the traffic stop, Jones stood up and was immediately tased by Richard Russell, cowboy stye.

The investigative file contains extensive documentation, evidence, and reports to be reviewed before any determinations can be made. This process takes time, as investigative reviews often require consultation with medical experts, in-depth review of the applicable law, and necessary additional investigation. The District Attorney’s Office cannot disclose fact-specific information to the public at this time, but will continue to be transparent with the community on this process and objective in its review of this tragic incident.”
