Since we know that the book of Revelation is about Jesus revealed, and we know that Jesus was there right from the beginning, we can look at this book as the first book of the Bible rather than the last. This will help to simplify understanding of the mysteries shown throughout the Bible in the context of Jesus Christ. Throughout the entire Bible, we see Jesus Christ appearing to numerous people.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. - John 1:1-4

It reveals who Jesus Christ is, both as the lamb that was slain (salvation) and the mandate of His office (King over all of creation) which He has been carrying out since the beginning and will continue to carry out to eternity. This mandate includes among many other things, creation, governance and rulership over creation, judgment, etc. Therefore coming down on Earth and His death on the cross was part of the mandate of His office, that is, the redemption of lost souls and reconciliation of creation with The Father. The Book of Revelation tells of how Creation operates including the relationship between the physical and spiritual realms and the forces at play in determining what happens throughout Creation as well as the fate of Creation at the point of judgment.
