Being a child of God is not only or primarily about the assurance of Heaven - we don’t become Christians to ensure that we are not going to Hell but rather, we become Christians to work in The Kingdom of God. It's a job we take on with Jesus Christ as our CEO. Every Christian should know what the expectations of this job are so that they can do it. Too many Christians believe that they are supposed to be served and that their faith is merely about making sure that they become comfortable on Earth so they go to Church on Sunday, and 98% of their prayers are prayer requests about broken relationships, financial needs, and so on.
