1999, Y2K was pending; some folks were freaking out about it, while most teens couldn’t be bothered. That year saw a few big releases, some great fun ones like Deep Blue Sea and Lake Placid, and some that were meant to be great, like Virus and The Haunting. So when a smaller title, one that sold itself with “the touching story of a boy and his right hand,” Idle Hands’ marketing knew exactly who they were aiming at with their film.
