“Consciousness” doesn’t determine who’s human

Consciousness cannot be your bar for “what is a human.” We each have different levels of consciousness and cognitive ability; some humans are still developing that consciousness, and others will never develop it—that has no bearing on our humanity.
Human beings shouldn’t need to look or act or experience like you or like the “norm” or “average,” in order to be human. Who determines who else is “conscious”?
