In this fast paced Christian life there is a lot of people trying to serve the Lord in every kind of way. So many burn out or find out that they just did not have what they thought it took.

They begin with a fervor and end like a smoldering wick and a void enters in. Their lights go out. That void is the absence of the Spirit of love of God. The power of His love is the power behind everything we are to do in His name.

I read a story of a man who was struggling in his ministry. He noticed there was a lack of power. He was in prayer about it and heard the Lord say to Him:

"If you do not know my love, then My power will corrupt you. I do not give you love so that you can know My power, but I give you power so that you can know My love. The goal of your life must be love, not power. Then will I give you power to love with. I will give you the power to heal the sick because you love them, and I love them, and I do not want them sick."

Stop trying so hard to work for Jesus. Instead go to Him in prayer and ask Him for His love to fill you up. Then go out and work and "see the salvation of the Lord." God is love and we are vessels of His purest love.

"God, hold us to that which drew us first, when the Cross was the attraction, and we wanted nothing else." ~ Amy Carmichael
