“It takes a lot for me to label a dog as aggressive”
It takes a lot for us to label a dog as legitimately aggressive. Most of the time, the “aggressive” dogs that we work with are just dogs with aggressive behaviors as a symptom of something else. They aren’t TRULY aggressive. They see aggressive behaviors as a means to and end. For example, a fearful dog may growl and lunge to keep a person or dog away that’s making them feel unsafe. A dog that resource guards toys may try to bite the hand of their owner when they owner attempts to take back the toy. A dog may jump and bark loudly in a way that appears scary simply because they are over-aroused. BUT it doesn’t mean that they are truly aggressive.
