"We are living on the brink of the apocalypse but the world is asleep."

- Joel C. Rosenberg

Known as the "Great Apostasy," Jesus foretold of this period in human history:

"Then many will fall away, betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved."

- Matthew 24:10-13

The label that Christian scholars have given this time frame, doesn't come from the Book of Matthew but another Book of the Bible, 2 Thessalonians 2:3:

"Don't let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction."

The study of eschatology is a jigsaw puzzle. The entire topic isn't limited to the Book of Revelation. What Jesus shares in Matthew 24:10-13, goes into significant amounts of details. All of which, we are experiencing now.

There's never been a time in human history, where all the nations that are classified as "Western society;" have overstepped their authority and have either violated the laws of their own lands or ignored them.

The Western world has been the champion and bastion of Christianity. The global spread of the Gospel, all due to the Christianization of Europe. Unfortunately, what was once known as Christendom, has been secularized and are now agents of spreading the new "Gospel of Humanism."

Post-Christian is the term; that is the modern expression of what Jesus and Paul shared, concerning the Great Apostasy. The word apostasy comes from the Greek word apostasia. It can be translated as falling away, as we seen how Jesus described what would occur and the video that's featured, is a testament to the accuracy of Jesus' Words.

Apostasia is also translated as rebellion. This dual meaning of the word, holds prophetic nuance. This "Age of Apostasy," those that claim to be believers; the core foundational belief of all Protestants: sola scriptura, is completely disregarded.

Sola scriptura is Latin, which translates into English as, Scripture alone. This is the guiding principle, where all followers of the Protestant faith; use the Bible as their only authority.

"Everyone with a proud heart is detestable to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished."

- Proverbs 16:5

"Acquitting the guilty and condemning the just - both are detestable to the Lord."

- Proverbs 17:15

The support, encouragement and exultation of behavior that God sees as detestable; is the very definition of rebellion. As French philosopher, Henri Rousseau once said, befit these times:

"God created man in his own image. And man, being a gentleman, returned the favor. We've made God in our own image."

"They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe the lie, so that all will be condemned - those who did not believe the truth but delighted in unrighteousness."

- 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

Jesus' Words, in Matthew 24:10-13, addresses the Great Apostasy, much more than Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. Other than helping future theologians to put a catchy label around the previews of the Book of Revelation, time frame; there's not much in terms of useful information.

On the other hand, Paul provides large amounts of important data to what happens, either in the midst of, or after the Great Apostasy...the revealing of the "Man of Lawlessness." This is one of the titles given to the one known as the Antichrist (AC).

In a reversal of roles, Jesus doesn't cover the AC at all; only his pinnacle act of sacrilege, in Matthew 24:15-22 but Paul does (once again jigsaw puzzle). The material concerning the AC is found in 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8:

"And you know what currently restrains him, so that he will be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work but the one now restraining will do so until he is out of the way and then the lawless one will be revealed."

The fashion in which the Great Apostasy and the Restrainer is tied together; indicates that these two events are connected to one another. This leads to the question of who or what is the Restrainer?

Most modern Christians believe the Restrainer is the Holy Spirit. This perspective hasn't always been the case. The early Christians believed that it was the Roman government. This isn't to be confused with the Roman emperor. For at various times, certain Caesars were assumed that they were the AC.

To help clarify the situation; the position held by early Christians, was that the Roman bureaucratic structure, kept the AC from emerging. The same way, some Americans view the Constitution being protective from a dictator but one day will be abolished by the AC.

The ideology concerning the Restrainer being the Holy Spirit, was developed by an Anglo-Irish theologian; John Nelson Darby (1800 - 1882). Other perspectives over the millennia:

- The Church
- Michael the archangel
- The binding of Satan
- Gentile worldwide domination
- The preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ
- Nation of Israel

For myself, I used to believe in Darby's position but as true with life...it's one thing to read a book, it's an entirely different story when you experience it. The 2005 movie, Constantine; expresses this point the best:

"It's not like in the books."

Anyone can imagine what something is like, when you read something. Christians, from the beginning of Christ's death to the modern era; have all guessed what the End Times would resemble. Speculating is drastically different from witnessing these events occur before your very eyes.

By analyzing all the events that have led to the conditions with this point in the human experience; what becomes apparent is that the previous theories were all inaccurate, on some level.

Some theories are outlandish and how they became serious contenders for any serious theological discussion, is absolutely bewildering. The problem with many of the Christian ideas for the Restrainer, is liner thinking.

The reason for this limitation is that the Restrainer is symbolized anthropomorphically as a single person but when facilitating symbols; deciphering them isn't done so by looking at that symbol literally.

Take the American symbol, Uncle Sam. He's the personification of America and the bureaucracy. Yet the single symbol represents the 50 States that make up the nation. The 3 branches main branches that compose the bureaucracy and 341,814,420 Americans.

When it comes to the Great Apostasy; people leaving the faith, isn't new. We read about it even in the Epistles. To make a clear separation from the Great Apostasy, opposed to that of people leaving Christianity; would have to be large scale, as we are seeing in the post-Christian Western world.

God "bundles" the Great Apostasy and Restrainer. In doing so, it makes it easy to be aware that whoever or whatever the Restrainer is; has been removed. The Restrainer's symbolic and so the identity is subjective.

On the other hand, the Great Apostasy is literal and as such, it's clear when the event has occurred. By tying both events together, we are provided with a warning of what's occurred and will happen next.

As far as who or what the Great Restrainer is...two things it is not, Michael the archangel and the preaching of the gospel. The preaching of the gospel hasn't stopped. There are so many outlets in which it is conducted today, that despite the Great Apostasy; people are still coming to God.

The push to share the Gospel, has altered the demographics of Christianity. What's known as the Evangelical movement or also known as Evangelicalism; is one group that's shifting Christians from other denominations to theirs.

Evangelicalism is a set group of denominations; all the organizations that follow Continuationism theology (more commonly known as Charismatic Christianity), are part of the movement but it isn't limited to specific denominations. Churches within denominations and individual Christians that are not associated with Evangelicalism; are also part of this classification.

This dynamic of going beyond the limitations of a consortium of denominations, that hold to the ideas of Evangelicalism; places this under the category of a movement. Due to the success and their stand for traditional Christian values; they have drawn large amounts of attacks by the mainstream media.

Since we are living in the Great Apostasy period and the preaching of the Gospel, still continues; this is an irrational selection. A person would have to be completely ignorant of the geopolitical activities that are currently going on.

The only way to make this position even slightly valid; there are no longer great crusades like that held by the late evangelist, Billy Graham. Since its doubtful God would make a mere mortal the Restrainer; what would be much more rational, is what he represented.

Billy Graham's crusades were fashioned in the style of tent revivals or tent meetings. Though raised in a Christian home and he thought of himself as one; he was only a "cultural Christian." It wasn't until he was 16 and attended an outreach by evangelist Mordecai Ham; was the moment he became a "born again" Christian.

Mordecai Ham's style of preaching and his use of tent revivals; was the heaviest influence in Graham's crusades. Graham's death (February 21, 2018), had been described by some as the passing of "God's generals." A few saw it was a sign of dark things to come.

Though some could argue that the removal of Graham from this world, was the end of tent outreaches but they were still going on, with men like David Terrell, R.W. Schambach, Reinhard Bonnke and J. A. Pérez. All of which were suspended when the lockdowns occurred, as a result of the outbreak.

The least likely candidate for being the Restrainer: Michael the archangel. There isn't much information provided in the Bible concerning him, other than his rank, operational assignments and a few combat roles. What is made clear, he has been given the responsibility to defend Israel.

Since there was never a hint or clue to a change in that post; the selection of Michael being the Restrainer is meaningless.

The Restrainer looks to be a chimera, where it isn't simply one single force or entity. Several of the ideas that Christians believed being the Restrainer, is what this creature is in true form. Jesus describes the period of the Great Apostasy, being lawless.

The early Christians believed it to be the Roman laws. The Roman Empire no longer exists but this concept being the system of governance; is a major contributor to the vast number of Western societies, to be inundated with crime. This connects with the theory of the Church being the Restrainer.

Unlike the rest of the world, Western culture and values; all developed through the Christianization of Europe; which would validate any notions of Christendom being the Restrainer. Through the arms of the church; godly values permeated throughout the West.

What began in the 1960's "culture war," has culminated in the post-Christian Europe, Greenland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. America is the last of the Western world to be Christian. Some areas already have become post-Christian and once America falls; the Age of Christendom, will be over.

After reading the above material and theories that come to mind, such as Christian nationalism, patriarchy, family values; all are valid positions of being either the Restrainer or part of the chimera.

Who or what the actual Restrainer is, isn't important. It's an academic exercise that might be intellectually stimulating but we can all find out whose theory is correct, when we go to Heaven.

Symbolism in the Bible is very subjective. Unless there are clear indicators as to what those symbols mean, they need to be handled as inconsequential. Think of them as "brain candy." Obsessions over symbolism are often a "red flag." Pseudo-Christian groups will use them to manipulate people because proof isn't required, only the ability to deceive a person is.

Taking aside the challenge that lay head, there exists a beautiful eloquence that exists, within the pages of the Bible, when it comes to the world's end.

"'Truly I tell you,' Jesus said, 'there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for My sake and for the sake of the Gospel, who will not receive a hundred times more, now at this time - houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions - and eternal life in the age to come. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.'"

- Mark 10:29-31

As if gentle touches of the sublime, operating within the human conscience; warning of the sunsetting on what was and the rise of the last phase of mankind...there are messages from God that are both loud and in your face and others hidden within the tapestry.

The letter Z is the last of our alphabet. It has also been ascribed to those born from 1997 - 2012. A of course is the first letter and that distinction is given to those born from 2010 - present. Generation Alpha is the first group to be born entirely in the 21st century and will go through the apocalypse.... "the first will be last, and the last first."

For those unaware of the academic study of eschatology (not to be confused with what's shown on popular media or studies conducted by "wanna be eschatological experts"); America doesn't exist in any End Times prophecy. There are two possibilities but neither of them places America in the position of being a significant world power.

Biblical scholars have long theorized why such is the case. One of which is by war, the other being a fall, similar to what every empire that has existed, experienced throughout history. America and a large portion of Western world is falling in real time.

There are three factors which have placed the West in this situation: 1) The open borders policy. 2) The pandemic. 3) The war in Ukraine.

If one had the capacity to talk to the various alphabet soup agencies, from these other nations; what an individual would learn is that the decisions by the leaders of the countries, have committed suicide. Since they can't make policies; despite the warnings; the politicians continue to allow entry of foreign nationals.

Such decisions by these leaders seem to be that of incompetence or idealism gone haywire. Said conclusion would be true, if the behavior of the leaders were consistent with their message. They used the argument of showing human kindness and generosity.

Yet when their own citizens have been brutally attacked and instead of handling such a rise in crime by an increase in law enforcement or some similar action; the leaders decided to cover-up these incidents and in some cases made it a crime to report them.

This contradiction isn't typical behavior. Especially since if one's soul is truly compassionate; the crimes committed among children; would alter the course of a ridiculous policy.

All these nations with open borders policies are Western societies. Despite seeing how each of them have failed and results are the same; the proclamations of compassion were only a mask for a power grab.

In the name of love....the same ploy, used again with the pandemic. The fear of the virus and the "compassion of humanity," was used to justify the overreach of authority, that in many cases, was an abuse. This also created the environment to be less human dependent and a move to alternative forms of economic systems.

War...what's it good for? Getting people to give money. Compassion is always a common tool of manipulation because it manipulates a person's sense of empathy. The war in Ukraine is the third wave of attacks, set up by the powers that be, to end the current way of Western life.

Ukraine is also the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. In another instance of poetry in motion; Ukraine or Ukrajina/Ukraïna, an Old East Slavic word that means borderland or frontier. On the surface, there's nothing hidden or secret about Ukraine being the borderland.

Here's the thing, the definition of borderland is defined more than a geographical term. It is also used as a point of transition. Situations such as sunrise or sunset; also what's often described as twilight (in the semi-wake point); are just a few examples.

We are on the borderland of the passing of the old world and into the new one. This is literally the dawn of the new age. As a result of American and Europe's involvement in Ukraine; caused the lines to be drawn against the West and as a result; these Western powers are falling.

Scholars who paid attention to the details concerning the absence of America; have shown their conclusions to be correct. As seen in the link above, this is occurring now.

What's next? According to the Bible's chain of events, it's the ascension or public recognition of the AC. What isn't made clear is the time from this point to that. The big factor in the AC making himself known, America needs to fall. Which if one wanted to see America as the Restrainer; there would be legitimate arguments for that.

As for the question concerning the rapture. There are 3 prevailing positions concerning this event: Pre-Tribulation, Mid-Tribulation and Post-Tribulation. God states very clearly that no one will know when it will occur. Are you really going to put yourself in the most difficult human period in all of time by academic debates?

The Bible tells us that we need to be wise. There are plenty of negative things said about being foolish. All of it relates to some form of suffering. If you're the type into the 50 shades of Grey; more power to you, enjoy.

For everyone else, the smartest thing to do is hope that it's a Pre-Tribulation but prepare like it's going to be Post-Tribulation. Doing so, isn't going to exempt you from the rapture or have the doors of Heaven slammed in your face.

God clearly states that no man knows when the rapture will occur. By preparing for the worst, you're taking seriously what His Word says; opposed to the opinion of people. The entire Book of Proverbs is about being wise. There's no wisdom in merely presuming how things will go.

Any time you run into a situation where a person says to sell all your possessions and simply wait for God to come back. That's an automatic "red flag." Running off so you are no longer part of society, there's not one Bible verse that advocates that.

Every scenario where people are no longer in the midst of doing what God has called a person to; He calls them wicked or lazy and then proceeds to cast them to, what sounds like Hell.

This leads to the most important piece of advice. Get yourself right with God. Playing around prior to the pandemic...that was then but who knows how much time exists before we cross into the Book of Revelation.

Faithful pray for the people that matter to you. That they would become "born again" and if they already are, that God would help them to know what to do.
