Don’t let anger motivate your training
Don’t let anger be the motivator for your dog’s training. If you’ve let them rehearse unwanted or dangerous behavior because you don’t want to upset them, but then suddenly reach a breaking point and start being firm with them out of anger, you’re not setting your dog up for success. Your dog doesn’t know a behavior is bad unless you tell them clearly that you don’t want them to rehearse it. It’s unfair to get angry at them for doing something you have seemingly never had an issue with before. By being dependable with your boundaries and letting your dog know what do and do not like is the kindest thing you can do for your dog.
