LANDING on the Moon

Apollo 11 was the historic mission in 1969 that successfully landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, on the moon. Armstrong's famous words upon stepping onto the lunar surface were, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind." Michael Collins remained in orbit around the moon in the command module. The mission marked a significant achievement in space exploration and was a pivotal moment in human history.
