If you were to compare your body to a type of vehicle what type would you choose? I think most of us would like to be sports cars. Muscular and lean with aesthetic lines. To build a sports car it takes a few things like parts, a mechanic to assemble all these parts and of course money to pay the mechanic.

Building our bodies is like building a sports car. We need parts and they come from protein in the form of amino acids. The mechanic is the hormones involved in the process of protein syntheses and finally the money is the energy needed to do the work, this comes from carbs and fats.

Just like building a car where there are only so many parts required to complete the car. Any extra parts would just be waste. The same is true with our bodies, we only need so much protein, carbs and fats. Anything extra is waste.

If we have lots of money in the bank it doesn't help get the car built unless we take the money out of the bank to pay the mechanic. So putting more money in the bank doesn't help get the car done either. So if we think of our fat storage as a bank the more fat we store isn't going to help us build muscle it is the fat we use that is going to help us build muscle the extra fat is just waste.

Just as when we build a sports car we want to use high performance parts. We want to take in high quality foods in order to build muscle.
