The Interpreter

Darcy Hamilton is a young man learning the art of communicating with animals. His final exam relies on communicating with a snake. Darcy hesitates when quizzed by the assessor to interpret the snake’s communication. Threatened with failing the course Darcy states that the snake told him that the assessor is having an affair with the snake’s owner blackmailing the assessor to pass him. Darcy starts his own animal interpreting business realizing that people are more interested in what their animals see rather than what they have to say. Capitalizing on this, Darcy makes a lot of money and a few enemies along the way. One day he is held hostage tied to a chair with a wild animal ready to attack by the embittered assessor who discovered the snake was a mute so could not possibly have told him about the affair. The mentor believes that if Darcy is a fake the wild animal will attack him but if he is genuine he will be able to convince the beast otherwise - it depends on if Darcy can really talk to the animals.
