Shema! Hear! (Isaiah 30:20-22)

Today we get to go over the first bit of JESUS'S two commands, that are seemingly one. To Shema. To listen. It's easy to say we "heard" something, it's another thing entirely to actually "listen". Listening requires an active response on the part of the hearer. Listening but not acting on it, James calls it foolish and Paul says it's like looking into a mirror and forgetting who we are the moment we walk away. I like to call it "Christian Crack" Though Dopamine is more accurate. All the peptalks and tedtalks in the world don't mean a hill of beans if we aren't willing to act on it. To respond to others the same way HE responded for our cries of need; loving as we are loved by HIM, the other side of that two-in-one command. Other centered focus, other focused love. When we Hear HIM we aren't lost on the way we should go when we listen and respond.
