“The one thing, that’s really funny is, you keep hearing people that say, ‘Oh Man! Your dogs work really good!’ or, ‘Oh Man, your horse works pretty decent!’ or ‘Oh Man, that fence looks really good, you just put up!’ or ‘You know… or Just, anything in general, involving “Cowboy” in our Culture; and you’ll get a compliment form someone… That they complain, that, oh, well… ‘How do you do that?’ or ‘How does that come about?’ or ‘How did you make that happen?’
The Truth is, I didn’t make nothing happen; I just did it EVERY DAY, just went at it, EVERY DAY – Hauled my dog with me, EVERY DAY – Built Miles, and miles, and miles, and miles, and miles… and miles, of fence. – Rode a shitload of young horses, and problem horses… And worked Rough Country, worked Easy Country… Brood Mares and… what you learn in that whole thing is…
You have to ENJOY no matter if you’re stretching wire, running water lines, running backhoe, working colts, working cows, working yearlings, picking out bulls – whatever the case may be. You enjoy the process, and everything else – will take care of itself. You know, and that’s the whole deal. You just, make your circle, do the best you can, and… hopefully everybody will get on the other side, and… It’ll all work out! Cowboy, “Tip [Word] of The Day”
