The gravesite is located on Private Property, but the owners graciously allow public access to the site.

Nah - this critter was very docile. It was located in a short Joshua Tree Yucca plant, and it crawled off my shoulder back to the plant after the video ended. ***CAUTION - INTERACTING WITH AND HANDLING VENOMOUS SNAKES AN BE DANGEROUS AND LEAD TO SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY IS REQUIRED.*** A neighbor killed this rattlesnake (not me) when it tried to bite him as he stepped off of his porch. **OF NOTE** The commentary from my neighbor about the "bite and hold" until sunset and such - is total BS. While the head of a venomous snake absolutely can be dangerous until total death, sunset has nothing to do with it. While I accept that killing is a part of our natural world, as all living complex organisms must kill in some way or another, and the Human-Wildlife Habitat Interface is always an area of controversy --- if killing must happen, we humans should be responsible about it. I prepared the rattlesnake by pressure cooking it over rice, with Harissa seasonings. It definitely does NOT "tastes just like chicken." It has a very strong, gamey flavor, and is of course - very stringy and tough, even after pressure cooking. It tastes like rattlesnake. And - it wasn't a horrible. While I would not specifically hunt rattlesnakes for food under normal living conditions - under the duress of survival (or even just hard times when meat is unavailable or too expensive) - it is actually pretty gourmet. [Especially in a starvation situation, when one has been eating bugs and rodents? Total gourmet.] Prayers and thanks were given for the life of the snake.

Tonight, one of Hidey the Spidey's neighbors DEVOURS a Devious Damselfly. Desert Blond Tarantula - (Aphonopelma chalcodes)

This Giant Whip Scorpion (Mastigoproctus giganteus) startled me while I was grilling ribs. The Whip Scorpion isn't actually a scorpion, nor is it venomous or dangerous to humans in any way. They are pretty docile, but if agitated, have a defensive spray that is 85% acetic acid, the same acid that makes vinegar - vinegar. Tonight, Hidey the Spidey (Desert Blond Tarantula - Aphonopelma chalcodes) eats a praying mantis. I know my camera work sucks, but I'm trying to wrangle the lights, the camera, and a pair of tweezers restraining "The Doomed" Mantis - which was probably doing more praying than it ever had before! Hidey The Spidey is a WILD Desert Blonde Tarantula - she is NOT a "pet" by any definition of the word. She is my neighbor; I feed her bugs and she lets me know when the rain is going to be bad by damming up her den. Desert Blonde Tarantulas are NOT aggressive - however, LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH. The fangs of the Desert Blonde Tarantula are about the size of full grown housecat claws. They are NOT dangerous to humans and do NOT want to live in your house. They ARE, your own little ground forces against pests like cockroaches, crickets and other invasive ground insects. On a lighter note - being the human, is sort of like being Jabba The Hutt sending doomed prisoners to the Sarlac Pit! NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM! BON APPETITE! 🕷🍴😊💖☮🔵

Becky fires the mighty .500 S&W Magnum in Alaska. She's is a cool lady with a great sense of humor, and a dear friend. The .500 IS a painful pistol to shoot. I had my turn with this particular pistol too, and if I recall correctly, I only fired two rounds, and had enough. Neato firearm, but useful only for hunting and range toy purposes. Carrying it for "bear defense" is for fools. For the hunters using it to hunt with, it's not even really good at that. Kills the hell out of ballistics gel and beer cans though! 😁

Saw this big ol' bear just walking down the Alaska Highway as though he owned it - and... he did! The Yukon Territory is one of the most amazing places on Earth, and the trip is life changing.
