GOOD FRIDAY BLUES
(Written by Ben Antoniadis)

In the city each night
Secrets scrawled on the pavement
In black and white
Holy words in white chalk
No useless mind, no useless talk

The restless in the valley
The homeless in the alley
Their heads on a plate
At tea party
For talking heads in house of state

And someone said something matters
While everything matters and nothing does
But it’s true the mind will shatter
When the weight of lies, the weight of lies becomes too much

Now rugged doves
Whisper words of faith
Crawling through cityscape
A holy crusade for a simple crumb
And the blessing of God’s grace

And it’s Easter in the city
And many places else
No Good Friday blues
For you and me
To the beat of Jesus’ pulse

And we all will rise and rise again
As the sun crawls across the sky
Until the Son, until the Son will come again

And we all will rise and rise again
As the sun crawls across the sky
Until the Son, until the Son will come again
