COAL MINING: The Dangerous History of Life in a Coal Mine
When we trace the history of coal mining back from when it was first brought out of the earth until today, there are several factors that made coal mining dangerous throughout the ages.
From 1900 to 2020, an estimated 104,895 people perished while mining coal in the US alone, according to the United States Department of Labor.
Being a coal miner has historically been one of the most dangerous professions on the planet, but have modern safety standards in the coal mining industry improved?
This coal mining documentary explores the truth behind the history of a profession that saw miners, including young children, working underground for so long, that they scarcely saw the light of day.
