Representative Thomas Massie has reintroduced the Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act (H.R. 3206), aiming to eliminate the unfair double taxation on Social Security benefits.

The bill addresses the fact that although seniors have already paid taxes on their Social Security contributions through payroll tax, they are still required to declare these benefits as taxable income on their tax returns.

Massie's bill seeks to exempt Social Security retirement benefits from taxation, providing relief for seniors who have already contributed to the system.

The bill has gained support from other representatives who recognize the need to alleviate the financial burden on seniors.

The legislation, known as the Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act, proposes amending the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to remove the inclusion of tier I railroad retirement benefits and Social Security benefits from an individual's gross income.
