Kristi Noem to face Senate questioning
President-elect Donald Trump tapped the South Dakota governor to be secretary of homeland security.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, President-elect Donald Trump's pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, will testify today at a confirmation hearing held by the Senate Homeland Security Committee at 9 a.m. ET.

While Noem is likely to be confirmed, her role as homeland security secretary could be more limited in scope than her predecessors', as she would be expected to take direction on immigration from incoming border czar Tom Homan and Stephen Miller, sources familiar with the Trump transition recently told NBC News.

If she is confirmed, Noem will oversee a workforce of more than 260,000 people across several agencies.
