Mick Lynch brands Starmer a loser before he even gains power.

RMT chief Mick Lynch doesn't mince his words and has taken another swipe aimed at getting Starmer to buck up.
Right, so RMT trade union boss Mick Lynch has come out and called Keir Starmer a loser! Ah, if only he’d left it there, but there is context to his comment, and it’s regarding Starmer’s fear as he sees it to actually commit to anything, to show his values because if he doesn’t give people something to vote for, because if he doesn’t he could prove a loser before he’s even got to power. It’s an ongoing accusation regarding Starmer of course that he repeatedly refuses to come forward with ideas of his own, but worse is that he doesn’t like anyone else coming forward with ideas either, as both Scottish and Welsh Labour, devolved from the main party as they supposedly are have been told policy for them will be formulated in Westminster too, because Starmer doesn’t want anyone else showing him up and things have to be his way or the highway – well at the moment, with Starmer coming out with nothing to vote for Labour over, save to ‘get the Tories out’, which isn’t even true when the only change coming with him as PM is the colour of the ties, you have a guy intentionally paralysing Labour with regards to what they stand for. So far the only things Starmer is committed to are things the Tories are already doing. He’s committed to keeping the two child benefit cap, he’s committed to keeping kids in poverty, he’s committed to keeping all the new oil and gas licences the Tories are granting, he’s committed to keeping asylum seekers on barges, he’s committed to ignoring the trans community and on we go. He’s not set out his stall as to what Labour under him would do meaningfully to make people’s lives better, it’s become a defining trait now that he stands for nothing except binning what he said he stood for previously, leading to accusations that he can’t be trusted on anything he says anyway, which I completely agree with; when challenged on that he hides behind Rachel Reeves fiscal rules and not wanting to commit to anything he thinks we can’t afford despite all spending being a political choice and language like that sets off alarm bells in the heads of those with a passing familiarity with how national economics works, knowing we print all the money we need, we can tax the rich but aren’t to offset additional spending and it sounds like just like the Tories, Starmer isn’t going to deviate from their austerity driven, rob the poor to feed the rich attitude, desperate for wealthy donors as Starmer is, because he’s made another conscious choice and that is to spurn the members of his party in favour of becoming slaves to donors and putting said policy up for sale.
