PETA activists protest over Faroe Islands pilot whale hunt

PETA activists in Berlin have protested against a controversial pilot whale hunt on the Faroe Islands. According to local authorities in the autonomous Danish territory in the North Atlantic, more than 500 long-finned pilot whales, a large species of oceanic dolphin, have been killed by hunters in Leynar since their hunt resumed in May, as part of a 1,000-year-old Faroese tradition. Although the traditional hunt is non-commercial and authorized, it has long faced opposition from environmental activists.
