The tissue box theory… 🤧

In my journey as a therapist, I was taught a powerful lesson by multiple professors: never hand a tissue to a client who is emotional or crying. 🙅‍♀️

The reason behind this seemingly counterintuitive approach shocked me at first, but it holds a wisdom. 💡💫

The idea is that by withholding the tissue, I am honoring the client's empowered action in their moment of pain.

It allows them to make their own choice, to reach for that tissue or ask for it.

It's a simple yet significant step towards empowerment and forward motion. 🙌

This practice avoids positioning myself as their savior, recognizing that true healing comes from within. ✨

It encourages the client to tap into their own inner strength and navigate their emotions with autonomy.

It's a beautiful reminder that vulnerability can be a catalyst for personal growth. 🌸

As therapists, we hold space for our clients to explore their emotions, providing support and guidance without taking away their power - it's an embodiment of trust, empathy, and respect. 🤝
