Pulled Pork Stuffed Donuts, A Deep Fried Powdered Sugar Pig-Out!
We took the concept of a Chinese pork bun and ran it through the ‘Merica grinder. Say hello to the Pulled Pork Stuffed Donut. Ingredients: 2 C Milk 6 Tbsp Dry Yeast 4 C Flour 4 Tbsp Sugar 1 Tsp Salt 2 Tsp Vanilla Extract 4 Egg Yolks 1 C Root Beer 1 C Ketchup 1/4 C Orange Juice 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar 1 Tbsp Molasses 3 Tbsp Worcestershire 1 Tsp Smoked Paprika 1 Tsp Ground Ginger 1 Tsp Garlic Powder 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder Add your milk, yeast, and 2 cups of flour to a bowl and mix thoroughly. Cover and let sit for 20 minutes. Add your sugar, salt, vanilla, egg yolks, and mix again. Add 2 more cups of flour and mix until you have a nice dough ball then cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. In a medium sauce pan add your root beer, ketchup, orange juice, brown sugar, remaining dry seasonings, and simmer over a medium heat until it thickens. Roll out your dough and cut circular pieces out roughly the size of the donuts you want. Cook/reheat your choice of pulled pork and add the BBQ sauce you made to a bowl and mix together. Sandwich your mixture between two circular dough pieces, folding the edges and cutting off any excess. Fry in oil at 360 degrees until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy.
