MiG-29K is an all-weather carrier-based multirole fighter aircraft being produced by Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC MiG). The aircraft is offered in a two-seat operational trainer variation known as the MiG-29KUB. The MiG-29K/KUB aircraft are designed to operate from aircraft-carriers with a minimum displacement of 28,000t and airfields. The aircraft has a length of 17.3m, a height of 4.4m and a wingspan of 11.9m. The maximum take-off weight is 24,500kg. If this is your first time hearing about MiG-29K raise your hand because it’s our first time too. That ’s why today we are going to learn more about it. MiG-29K is so advanced that there is no better fighter plane to replace it. The MiG-29K programme was revived in response to the decision of the Indian Navy to acquire the former Soviet Navy aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov in 2004. When Admiral Gorshkov was part of the Soviet fleet, it was a hybrid carrier/cruiser using vertical take-off (V/STOL) aircraft; thus the deck was refurbished with a take-off ramp and arrestor wires for operating MiG-29Ks.The aircraft has an enlarged and folding wing, an arrestor hook and a corrosion-protected reinforced fuselage.
