In 1897, an alleged UFO incident took place in the town of Aurora, Texas. According to the reports, an unidentified flying object, described as an airship, crashed into a windmill on the property of Judge J.S.
Proctor in April of that year.

The incident gained attention due to claims that the pilot of the airship was not of this world. It was purportedly described as a
"Martian" or "Martian-like" creature.

Descriptions of the airship varied, but witnesses mentioned it being constructed of an unusual material and adorned with hieroglyphic-like symbols.
