Parliament has rejected a proposal to introduce pre-internship examination of all potential medical interns as recommended by the Parliamentary health committee as an avenue to enhance quality assurance in the medical field. The MPs say that such a move would suffocate the education system.
Parliament unanimously agreed that government avails the 70.22 billion required to finance allowances for Medical Interns and Senior Health Officers in FY 20023/2024 before completing appropriation.
The report adopted was after a petition by the representatives of the prospective interns was referred to the Health Committee of Parliament.
