A jury has reached a verdict in the case against Parkland school resource officer Scot Peterson.

The jury found him not guilty on all counts related to the tragic events that occurred at the school on February 14, 2018.

Surveillance video released on March 15 allegedly shows Peterson standing outside Parkland school building 12 instead of entering to confront the gunman.

Peterson's attorney, Michael Piper, argued that there was no legal obligation for Peterson to enter the building and stop the attack.

Piper emphasized that, from a legal standpoint, there was no duty to do so. This case raises important questions about the responsibilities and legal obligations of school security officers in situations like these.

It's a disconcerting realization that the same government that asks us to entrust our safety to them through gun control measures is simultaneously asserting that they are not legally obligated to keep us safe.

This creates a perplexing situation where we are expected to relinquish our right to bear arms for the sake of safety, without any assurance that the government can fulfill its end of the bargain.
