China’s dragon-boat race kicks off ahead of upcoming festival

Nearly 100 dragon boats and 3,000 people were invited to participate in a race in the city of Putian ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival on June 22. The organizers seek to embrace traditional culture with the event, which dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279), as well as ‘helping to pass down the spirit of daring and fighting from generation to generation.’
