Hello friends and welcome to the world of power animals. Today we’ll look at the caribou. Caribou are large, hoofed members of the deer family that live in the upper regions of North America. Yet, in Europe and Asia they’re typically known as reindeer. Caribou are well suited for cold environments with 2 layers of thick fur coats and specialized hooves to walk on snow and ice. They migrate quickly in herds for hundreds even thousands of miles in search of food. Caribou are herbivores and can be wild or domesticated when they’re raised for meat, milk, and hides. They can also be used as pack or draft animals when they carry or pull heavy loads. Caribou are very hard-working and determined and during the mating season, the male bulls battle for access to the female cows which give birth to one calf a year.

The resilient caribou is known for their keen intuition and sense of direction. When they decide to travel, they’re off and running and there’s no stopping them. Their endurance and strength enable them to survive almost any challenge. There’s many folklores and stories about the caribou with Santa Claus’ nine reindeer pulling his sled being the most famous.

The social caribou is a symbol of resourcefulness, adaptability, speed, and creativity. When you’re planning a journey and need power to go the distance, call on the spirit of the caribou.
