Tempera Paint Pour - Easy Clean-Up Paint Pour for Kids | Acrylic Pour for Beginners

Doing a tempera paint pour with your kids can save you a whole lot of cleaning headaches. Unlike acrylic paint pouring where once the paint is dry it is a hassle to clean up (if possible at all), tempera paints are made to be cleaned up with water, even after they dry.

Tempera paints have been a staple for artist for hundreds of years and were originally made out of eggs. Now days they are made with a couple of different bio substitutes but they are perfect for doing a messy project, like acrylic paint pouring, with kids.

We used some metallic tempera paints from Michael's that came in 6 pack. The paints were very . . . frothy . . . is the only word I can think of for them. Even when thinned they still seemed much thicker than acrylic paints.

The first try we used the paints with no additives. The second try we mixed two part paints to one part pouring medium which was a 60% Glue-All and 40% water mixture. We then added one drop of liquid wrench silicone oil to each cup.
