CDC reports significant rise in rare brain abscesses in children

New findings published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported a 200% increase in brain abscesses in children over the winter. Brain abscesses are extremely rare and occur when a sinus or ear infection travels to the brain. The CDC said it is unclear what has caused the spike in infections.
