About Vivian

I am an author, speaker, communications expert and connector who helps you find and share your voice by leveraging the media, moderating with confidence, and motivating you to boldly share your world-changing messages with the communities that need to hear them. I founded Vivian L. King Connections LLC in the same year I wrote my book, “When the Words Suddenly Stopped: Finding My Voice Again After a Massive Stroke,” which launched in March 2020, was an Amazon bestseller in three categories and a top finalist in the global Author Elite Awards in 2020. I am also a professionally trained voice actor and moderator and often participate in workshops and forums. Before founding my business, I enjoyed an extensive career in broadcast journalism, public relations and community relations.

I served as Vice President of Community Relations at Aurora Health Care, where I oversaw community sponsorships and caregiver engagement in the community throughout Aurora’s footprint in eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Prior to working at Aurora, I served as Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Media Relations for Roundy’s Supermarkets, where I was chief spokesperson for the company and worked closely with developing the company’s profile on social media and awarding community donations through the Roundy’s Foundation.

My first love was journalism. During my award-winning broadcast career, I worked at television stations in Alexandria, Louisiana; Tyler, Texas; and Battle Creek, Michigan before moving to Milwaukee, where I spent more than 10 years at WTMJ-TV, the NBC affiliate.

I've served on several boards (my resume has more details about that), currently on Tunnel Light, Inc., a mental health non-profit. I'm also active with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., serving nationally on the Information & Communications Committee, in addition to with the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter.

I hail from St. Louis, where I still have close family and friends.
