Here is a track from the unfortunately not live, but playback performances at the Sopot Festival in Poland in 1990. These are the only shows I can trace featuring Betsi Miller fronting the band, which is a great shame. The song - Only One Word - had modest success around the world, but deserved more recognition. A truly great shame, as like 3 or 4 of the songs on the album - 1234 - it is a wonderful pop song. This is the 1990 Official Music Video for the song "Heaven Give Me Words", by the Betsi Miller fronted incarnation of Propaganda, taken from the album 1234. Written by Howard Jones, apart from Betsi, the band featured two ex members of Simple Minds - Derek Forbes and Brian McGee - on this song, and the whole album. To me it is a great pop/electronica album, with this lovely song one of many highlights. Unfortunately Betsi decided to duck out of music immediately afterwards, concentrating on family life. I can find no videos featuring her live, although the band did tour for a while, but there are a few songs from a televised, but not live show, in Poland, which I will be uploading soon. A Live Performance of the Propaganda song "Dream Within A Dream", originally on the wonderful album "A Secret Wish" in 1985. This superb version from 2011 has Suzanne only doing vocal duties, with Claudia having a well deserved stage break for one song. This is a wonderful, otherwise unavailable version of the fabulous "Dream Within A Dream", which sounds markedly different from the officially released versions. Susanne with all the vocals - and what a fantastic beat. I think I still have a couple of songs from this album to upload, so will get to them in due course. This is "Beast Within", which is Track 4 on the "Untitled Unreleased Album" from Propaganda in 2002. This features vocals from both Susanne and Claudia, and is again just a great pop tune that is almost unknown. No official lyrics available anywhere, but will add my own in the next few days. Another song from the wonderful show at The Scala in London 2011 - this is Dr Mabuse, and features, apart from Claudia - two other members of Propaganda - Susanne Freytag and Ralf Dörper. This song was their first single in 1984, and then was obviously included on the totally brilliant "A Secret Wish" album in 1985. Such a great night was had here, and although I never got to see them live first time around, this concert definitely made up for that. Thought I would feature some tracks from the great Greenpeace concert at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam on 26th October 1985. Five bands performed that night - Propaganda - OMD - INXS - Mai Tai and the Frank Boeijen Groep. Track two from the night. Propaganda now - and this is the song "Frozen Faces". This song comes from the "B" sde of the single "p:Machinery" - both 7" and 12" - and also from the remix albums "Wishful Thinking" and "Outside World" A great tune, and this is a fabulous live version. I think Betsi is doing the short vocal section that Susanne sung, both in the other version from this album, and on the official release. Another track from the unreleased "1234 Demos" album. This track - "Vicious Circle", actually made the cut for the official release, though in a slightly different and more polished form. As in the released version, this also features vocals from Susanne Freytag, as well as Betsi Miller. I love this version, but the Demos album also has two other versions of this. One is a slightly shorter instrumental, and the third is a much shorter - only 2 minutes+, but has a different vocal and musical arrangement. Both will follow in due course. This got a release on the official 1234 album, but this version is quite a bit different - but I think I prefer it. Another track from the "1234 Demos" unreleased album. This was requested by a subscriber - by the way, many thanks to recent new subscribers - and obviously to all subscribers also. This is an alternate version of "Blooms", which I think became "How Much Love" on the official release. Both versions are just labelled as "Blooms" on the album, so I just called this one "Alternate". Another rarity here - this is taken from the unreleased 1234 Demo album. From CD2, this is simply titled "Honey" - then "Version 1", with "Heaven Give Me Words" in brackets. Totally different to the track it became on the official release, but really lovely - with a great groove and gorgeous breathy vocals from Betsi. On the unreleased album are three versions of this track - version 2 is an instrumental of this, and version 3 a short extract of the song - only just over a minute long, again without vocals. Another fabulous track from the 2002 "Untitled Unreleased Album". This was Track 9, and was called "Anonymous", and resurfaced on the album "Instead" by "OneTwo" - who were Claudia, along with Paul from OMD. The song on the five year later official release was a minute longer, and a fair bit different vocally, but the song itself, in both guises is wonderful. Always one of my favourite songs. This is the track "Blooms", which is track 3 on CD2 of the "1234 Demos" unreleased album. This sounds to me like an early draft of the song "How Much Love", from the official "1234" release. There are actually two tracks called "Blooms" on the Demos album - both are instrumental, and have a reasonable difference - so if anyone wants, I will also upload the other one. Next though, for comparison - will upload the video to "How Much Love" from Sopot in Poland.
