Flashback: DeSantis Pushed For Closing Of Beaches During Pandemic
In a recent interview, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized the COVID-19 record of his fellow GOP colleague, former President Donald Trump. DeSantis particularly took issue with Trump's trust in NIH director Dr. Anthony Fauci, which he claimed caused "millions of people's lives" to be destroyed. The two presidential candidates have frequently thrown verbal punches at one another over their respective COVID records.
DeSantis recalled the events leading up to last year's pandemic when things went dramatically south. "For three years, he (Trump) did great, but when he handed over the nation's health to Fauci in March 2020, millions suffered," DeSantis said candidly to Glenn Beck in an interview on Thursday. "Thankfully, Florida stood up to the challenge and took decisive steps, initiatives that cut against the grain, exposed us to media and bureaucracy fire and earned disapproval from the left and even from some Republicans. Nonetheless, we kept schools open and businesses running."
