Growing (Apart) in Rio

Ever wondered why Rio has a North Zone and a South Zone?
Also, you may be wondering why is it that in the thumbnail of this video is says "divorce".
That, my friends, is because the growth of the city of Rio beyond what nowadays is the downtown area, was precisely the result of the separation (not divorce because it wasn't an option in this case) of D.João the sixth and D.Carlota Joaquina.
And they literally moved to opposite sides OF THE CITY.
This is precisely what I'm gonna talk about in this very video.
