On Episode 2 of the “Strange Bedfellows” podcast, we get an update from Scott Ritter, who is currently on assignment in #Russia.

Ritter describes what it was like being in #Moscow for the annual #VictoryDay parade, and why it is so important to the Russians, as well as all peoples of the former #USSR.

We also hear from Scott about the extraordinary security measures in place this year due to the recent drone attack on the #Kremlin, the assassination attempt on Russian president Vladimir #Putin, and three more attempted drone strikes on the Victory day parade May 9th.

To fully understand the significance of Victory Day to the Russians, we must delve into the #communist political system that shaped the former Soviet Union and acknowledge the valiant contributions the Soviets made to the Allied victory in World War Two. (or as the Russians call it, “The Great Patriotic War.”)

We discuss Soviet #WWII history with our guest Caleb Maupin, RT reporter and founder of the Center for Political Innovation.

We also talk about how the West turned on it’s former wartime ally after the victory in Europe and started a Cold War against #communism that continues to this day.

Maupin and my co-host Tyler McConnell — both #communists — describe the witch hunts of Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare, warning us that history is now repeating in the 21st Century.

This discussion will challenge everything you think you know about Communism, because if you grew up during the #ColdWar, most of what you were taught in school was a lie.
