Octopath Traveler 2 (PC) - Part 75: The One True Magic (Osvald Chapter 5)

After confronting Harvey and discovering that his family didn't die in the fire that got him locked up, Osvald makes for the city of Gravell, wherein lies the burial site of the archmage D'arqest, the founder of the Moonshade Order. There, Harvey seeks to experiment with Elena's blood as the key to unlocking the One True Magic. As the experiment progresses, the townspeople succumb to madness from black mist emerging from the Duskruin Shrine, but Osvald is able to restore them by Mugging them for the Black Crystals possessing them.

In the depths of the Duskruin Shrine, Osvald and Harvey finally square off! Before the actual boss fight, Harvey summons a couple of golems for Osvald to fight off. But afterwards, Osvald shields Elena from Harvey's new magic and in turn discovers his own new magic! Which one is the real One True Magic? Osvald and Harvey fight to the death to find out!

Harvey is a pretty tough boss who has 10 shield points, can summon elementals, and hits the whole party pretty hard with his magic attacks. Thankfully all are weak to the three basic elements, so a couple Elemental Barrages can break Harvey once you blast the elementals away. About halfway through, you'll get some dialogue between Osvald and Harvey before Harvey enters his second phase. Here his weaknesses switch to Daggers, Bows, Light, and Darkness, which means Elemental Barrage is no longer effective, and he also gets another action per turn. Not good. However, for this boss fight Osvald unlocks his other EX Skill "One True Magic", which deals at least 9999 damage, removes a shield point regardless of weaknesses, and can be enhanced with Advanced Magic or Alephan's Wisdom to hit additional times.

The ending to Osvald's story actually made me shed a tear or two, as Elena suffers from amnesia from Harvey's brainwashing and Osvald keeps his distance so as not to disorient her during her recovery under Lady Clarissa's care.
