No Man's Sky is an upcoming sci-fi space exploration survival game featuring a procedurally generated...everything. Here I put up 10 things you should know about No Man's Sky set to some gameplay footage, although there's certainly plenty more information than this short top 10 list. Now, comparative to most games, Hello Games, the developers of No Man's Sky, have been fairly hushed about a great deal of the game. We know the basics of the game, and some of the underlying systems within the game, as well scope of the game itself, but in a startling step away from most of the recently released games of this generation, there is no formal beta testing or early access for people to get in on. That means when No Man's Sky releases on June 21, 2016, we'll all be on fairly equal footing, for the most part. It releases earliest in the US, so all of the people in the USA get to enjoy that.
The idea behind No Man's Sky, if you're only now hearing about the game, is that it takes place in a massive procedurally generated universe. The universe has more planets than any one person could ever discovering in more lifetimes that one could count, and each planet is procedurally generated. The flora and fauna is procedurally generated, even the SOUNDTRACK is procedurally generated. Discovering various things in No Man's Sky gives credit to the person that uploads the data, meaning that you can make your mark on the game. There are also some antagonists within the game known as Sentinels, there's a custom periodic table, there will be some death penalties, there are some "classes" based on the ship you fly, there are accurate day and night cycles, and there are alien races with their own languages that must be researched and learned in order to communicate properly with. Of course, given the sheer size of the game, everyone will most likely get that opportunity to make some discoveries, so you don't need to worry if you're not the first one out of the gate. As a player you get to forge your own path, but the basics exist like in many survival style games. You can fight, you can trade, you can upgrade, and you can explore, among other things. You can also count on me playing this game the moment it comes out. In fact, the game is so interesting that my non-gamer WIFE is actually interested in playing it as well! Do note, this information is based on what we know so far, things may change! Hope you guys enjoyed this list!
