t began in the Netherlands, with tens of thousands of farmers engaging in large protests against the new government climate plans to reduce nitrogen emissions.

A whopping 11 200 farms will be forced to shut down to meet the climate goals in the Netherlands, something that the farmers have been very unhappy with.

Farmers in the Netherlands even sprayed manure on the town hall in protest!

Not only farmers, but also horticulturists together with students from the Agriculture and Horticulture department of VITO gathered in Hoogstraten with tractors to protest. The Flemish government has drawn up a plan to reduce and limit nitrogen emissions in the future.
