Welcome to the first of a three part series of episodes entitled: The Quiet Rebellion Series.

This is our 2nd episode overall. It is called "The Middle Voice"

In this episode, Shelley and I discuss what real prayer looks like based on Tyler Staton's book, "Praying like Monks, Living like Fools."

This episode explores the fact that in English, there are basically 2 main modes of speaking. The Active Voice (1st Voice) in which the speaker is the origin of the action done to someone or something else. There is the Passive Voice (3rd Voice) where the action happens to the subject. However, in Hellenistic Greek grammar, there is another main mode of speaking called, "The Middle Voice" (2nd Voice). This final mode of grammar allows the subject to enact things to and/or for themself.

This episode discusses how the Middle Voice is the true ebb and flow of prayer. Although God began the conversation, we add to it, receive from it, and influence it. Although the our human, and mere mortal, inclinations are inclined toward being an active demander or passive apathetic, we see that real and honest prayer can exist only as God Himself truly designed it: In The Middle Voice!
