Garden Update #1

I have limited space to plant my vegetables. We live in Long Island which is on the outskirts of NYC. I can be in Manhattan in 30 minutes if there is no traffic. My Mom lives in Queens and it takes 20 minutes to get to her home.

This is only the first video about my garden. June is when my strawberries will be ripe enough to eat. The figs will be ready to eat in 4 months. I grow Kale very easily. It is doing fantastic so far and it will produce a lot of leaves to eat. I hate the stuff. My secret is to cook it and ditch the liquid. Then I cook twice the amount of spinach and I mix it all together. The flavor of the spinach overwhelms the taste of the Kale. My daughter takes as much Kale as I provide. She loves it.

The rest of the garden consists of cucumbers, potatoes, beans, arugula, Swiss Chard, lettuce and sweet pepper plants. I need to buy some tomato plants. The ones that I started indoors died because I neglected them due to a birth in the family and a death.

Note the trellis's that I built years ago. I used half inch PVC plumbing water lines. I snapped everything together. Nothing is glued. My plumber was over last month and he was impressed. I built this about 10 years ago and all is well. Did I modify the units? YES. When I needed to add something, it was easy to do. I bought one hundred linear feet of pipe (10 pieces x 10 feet each) for $20. My cucumber plants wrap around the pipes and travel up to the top and into my neighbor's yard. The same applies to the green beans.
