Mage has won the 149th edition of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

The 3-year-old chestnut colt, trained by Gustavo Delgado, edged out Two Phil’s who finished in second place by a length, and pre-race favorite Angel of Empire who finished in third, in front of the over 150,000 fans in attendance.

“I never give up, I always try hard, do the right thing,” said jockey Javier Castellano. “It took me a little while to get there, to finally get it.”

Mage will have a chance to continue the chase for the elusive Triple Crown at the Preakness Stakes on May 20. The third leg is at the Belmont Stakes on June 10.
