Ukraine Conflict: Week In Review by Realpolitik | May 5 2023

The Kremlin has been struck by several kamikaze drones. Was it a false flag by the Russians or a genuine Ukrainian assassination attempt to take out Putin ? Or was it simply meant as a symbolic attack to boost Ukrainian morale before their much anticipated counter offensive ?

In Bakhmut the situation continues to deteriorate for Ukrainian forces. Russian troops are ruthlessly pummeling the city with a combination of TOS flamethrower thermobaric warheads and FAB-500 GPS guided glide bombs with their 1 ton warheads. Ukrainian positions are literally being wiped off the map, completely annihilated. Ukraine now merely controls 5-10% of the city as Russia tries to seize the entire city before May 9th, Victory Day.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, as the weather has begun to improve, Ukrainian troops have launched pre-emptive probing attacks all along the front lines of Zaporizhia. Also a recent ambitious operation along the islands on the Dnieper, between the Russian & Ukrainian controlled mainlands in the Kherson Oblast has largely failed. Ukraine moved several S-300 batteries to the front in order to provide air cover for their troops. At least three S-300 batteries & one German made Gepard air defense system were destroyed by several Russian Lancet kamikaze drones

Also during the last several days, both sides have increasingly used a combination of kamikaze drones to target each others logistics, including oil refineries, chemical plants, army bases & much more.

All this and much more in Realpolitik's latest report on the ongoing Ukrainian conflict
