NYPD Distributes Free AirTags to Combat Grand Theft Auto
Top news right now - New York City is experiencing a major uptick in auto thefts, specifically targeting Kia and Hyundai models. The Bronx's 43rd Precinct has seen a shocking 548% increase in stolen vehicles. To combat the problem, the NYPD is giving out free Apple AirTags to people living in certain neighborhoods to help track stolen vehicles. Mayor Eric Adams has blamed the rise of auto thefts on popular TikTok videos showing people how to steal cars. While the city has seen a decrease in other major crimes, the increase in grand larceny auto is still causing concern. The Association for a Better New York has picked up the cost of 500 AirTags, highlighting the administration's relationship with small businesses. Stay tuned to Next News for more breaking news.
